As we’ve discussed in other posts, in a default installation, WordPress treats your site as a ‘blog’ and displays your latest published content on the home page, unless you set a specific page as the home page.
In a previous tutorial, we’ve also explained how to create a blog page to display your most recent blog post entries.
Regardless of your choice to make your most recently published articles display on your main page or your blog page, With WordPress you can specify the number of items to display on these pages (i.e. ’2’, ’6’, ‘9’ etc.)
Your WordPress site will then display your most recent published articles on your blog page up to the maximum number of blog post entries you have specified, even if your WP site contains more posts than the number of items you have set to display …
The ability to specify how many posts display on your WordPress site has a number of practical applications.
For example, you can display only the latest blog post you have published. This is handy for example, if you want to send your readers to a weekly special, a ’book of the month’ type of offer, publish the latest results of your sports team, post an upcoming event, set up a quarterly social page for announcements, etc.
You can also use this great feature to fill an empty space on your blog if your sidebar menu runs too long …
Whatever the reason, With WordPress you have the flexibility to change the number of blog posts that you want to display on your blog page.
In this tutorial, you are going to learn how easy it is to change how many blog post entries to show on your WordPress blog.
