As we’ve discussed in previous posts, in a default installation, WordPress treats your website as a ‘blog’ and displays your newest published content on the home page, unless you fix a page as the front page.

In a previous tutorial, we’ve also explained how to create a blog page to display your most recent blog post entries.
Regardless of your choice to make your most recently published blog post entries display on your home page or your blog page, you can specify the number of published posts to show up on these pages (i.e. ‘1’, ’5’, ’12’ etc.)
Your site will then display posts on your blog page up to the maximum number of blog post entries you have set, even if your web site contains more posts than the number set to display …

The ability to set the number of blog posts display on your site has a number of practical applications.
For example, you can display only the latest single post you have published. This is useful, if, for example, you are promoting a weekly special, a ‘deal of the day’ type of offer, publish the latest results of your sports team, post upcoming events, set up a weekly office page for updates and announcements, etc.
You can also use this great feature to fill an ugly space on your blog if your sidebar menu runs too long …

Whatever the reason may be, With WordPress you have the flexibility to set the number of posts that you want to show on your blog page.
Let’s show you, then, how easy it is to set the number of blog post entries to display on your WordPress blog.
