Are you planning to set up an online store?

The WordPress developer community not only makes great plugins for e-Commerce available to WordPress users, but there are also lots of excellent WordPress website templates that you can use to easily set up and run your store online.

In this blog post, we’ll show you where to find many beautiful and professionally-designed website templates for selling products online with WordPress.

Find The Best eCommerce Themes For Selling Products Or Services With WordPress

When looking for shopping store templates there are some points to keep in mind:

Template Style

As well as finding a versatile theme for your web shop, you will want the theme to have a clean layout and be fairly easy to edit and customize, so it can be used for any type of webshop you have in mind (e.g. clothing store, electronics store, home design store, etc).

Full Functionality

In many cases, much of the eCommerce functionality in your online shop will come from the plugins you decide to install to power your e-Commerce site.

As you will see, however, a number of eCommerce templates also come with additional options and settings that can improve your website’s e-Commerce capabilities and help you provide a better customer experience for your site visitors without requiring you to install extra plugins.

This can include the ability to easily control your website’s overall color scheme without editing the underlying code, toggle features on and off, reconfigure your layout easily, manage your advertising banners, optimizing product names, categories and descriptions for search engines, shortcodes and more.

Easy Cart Setup

Most professional eCommerce themes offer easy shopping cart setup and integration with various payment processing merchants and solutions, allowing you to accept various forms of payment online (e.g. credit cards, PayPal, Authorize.net, etc.) and start processing orders online without going through lengthy technical implementation processes or delays.

Responsive Theme

A responsive theme allows a website to automatically readjust the web layout to display smoothly over different screen sizes and resolutions, as well as across different devices (e.g. computers, tablets, mobile phones, etc).

We have written a detailed post about the importance of choosing responsive WP themes here:

Theme Updates & Support

If you plan to sell products or services online, there are many unexpected things that can turn into problems with the eCommerce process itself. The last thing you want to go through when dealing with emails or phone calls annoyed or even angry and abusive customers is to be using a theme that has bugs and you can’t get a timely reply from the theme developer to provide you with an urgent fix.

For this reason, we strongly recommend that you carefully consider choosing themes that offer support and regular updates when searching for a template for your online shop. Often, you have a better chance of getting updates and support from premium theme developers, than by using a free theme.

With these points in mind, let’s now turn our attention to some of the web templates you can use to set up a web store that will keep customers buying products from your website:
