WordPress Traffic Automation Blueprint – Overview
Traffic is the lifeblood of most businesses online.
Learning effective methods of getting more traffic to your website is one of the fundamental skills of running a business online successfully. Lack of online traffic is also one of the most common complaints made by website owners everywhere.
Why Are So Many Businesses Having Difficulty Bringing Visitors To Their Web Sites?
Type in any of the searches below into Google …
- “increase visitors to my web site”
- “increase visitors to my website”
- “need to drive more web traffic”
- “need to get visitors using Twitter”
- “attract buyers to your web site for free”
… and you will be immediately presented with an overwhelming number of sites offering you information on different ways to drive more traffic to your web site …
(There are many ways to get more web traffic to your site. This article series is designed to help you set up a simple system to take advantage of many of these traffic generation strategies!)
There is clearly no shortage of ways to drive traffic to your website. There are thousands of courses and free sites that can show you strategies to increase visitors to your website.
The problem is often more about businesses not investing sufficient time into learning how to generate new traffic sustainably, not setting up systems to manage the traffic generation process effectively, and, in many cases, not even being aware that there are ways to configure your website to leverage and automate your web traffic generation.
The illustration below shows how most businesses approach the challenge of generating web traffic …
(This is how many website owners approach the challenge of generating traffic to their sites)
Essentially, the typical approach many small businesses take is this: first, you get your website, and then you figure out ways of driving traffic to your site.
As you will discover in a moment, there is a smarter approach.
You shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that “outsourcing” your traffic generation will take care of the problem.
There is nothing wrong with outsourcing if you already have the systems set up to manage and process information about your traffic generation campaigns. If not, all you will probably do is end up wasting a lot of time and money searching for a positive ROI method that can consistently deliver you a positive ROI.
(Without laying down a solid foundation and putting the right systems, website traffic generation can end up being a very costly activity!)
Sustainable traffic generation requires laying a solid foundation online, putting systems in place, continually testing campaign variables, experimenting with different methods, tracking results, measuring ROI across different traffic generation solutions, etc.
Is There A Way To Automate The Process Of Getting Website Visitors?
Imagine if all you had to do to instantly deliver targeted visitors to your site was to publish content on a regular basis.
This is not science fiction … it’s a fact! As a matter of fact, many website owners are already doing this … and you can too!
In the Website Traffic Blueprint article series, we explain the process of setting up an automated traffic system that can drive targeted traffic to your web site, simply by adding regular content to your web site.
How To Set Up A System That Will Automatically Help Bring More Traffic To Your Website
As you can see in the diagram below, the web traffic method we discuss in this article series involves three basic steps:
- Set up specific systems to lay down a solid foundation for generating sustainable traffic
- Add web content on a regular basis to start driving traffic and generating data
- Add other traffic strategies
(Sustainable traffic generation involves laying a solid foundation online and putting systems in place)
At this stage, we’ll mostly be focusing on Step 1. The purpose of our article series is to help you understand how to set up a traffic generation system that will ultimately:
- Save time using automation and leverage
- Save money by starting simple and scaling up sensibly
- Automatically notify search engines
- Instantly share your content to all of your social media accounts (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Gain valuable insights about your traffic generation methods, track results, measure ROI, etc.
- Outsource traffic generation while maintaining full control of the process
- Grow your business online cost-effectively and sustainably
All of the above can be achieved using what we will refer to in this article series as an “expertly configured” WordPress website …
(With an expertly configured WordPress website, you just publish content and your site will then do the rest, notifying other sites about your content and bringing you back web traffic!)
What Is An Expertly Configured WordPress Site?
An expertly configured WordPress website is different than a professionally-configured WordPress website.
An expertly configured WordPress website or blog is a blog that is not only built with WordPress, but has also been expertly set up and configured (either by yourself or professionally) to take full advantage of the tremendous power, ease-of-use and functionality of WordPress and its integration with various sites, specifically in areas like SEO, content syndication, and analytics.
Why Use An Expertly Configured WordPress Website?
We have published many excellent articles on this site about the benefits of using WordPress-driven websites to grow your business online.
Understanding how an “expertly configured” WordPress blog can help create an automated traffic system requires several article installments, which is why we really recommend that you spend some time reading our other articles and subscribe to this site (this way, you will be informed whenever we publish a new article).
Let’s begin by addressing some basic questions:
What makes WordPress so special? What does WordPress provide that other web platforms don’t?
Take a look at the diagram below …
(Static vs Expertly Configured WordPress Site)
Many websites are traditionally built on applications that create “static” websites. Essentially, what this means is that the web files mostly sit inside a server waiting to be found. On its own, the static website doesn’t communicate with anyone else outside its application; it doesn’t ’ping’ anybody in cyberspace or announce to any other site that new content has recently been added.
Think about it … if with a static website, all of your content just sits there passively waiting to be found, then you have to actively promote your web presence and your content to keep bringing in web traffic.
WordPress is different!
The WordPress CMS application provides many features that allow you to set up, configure and build an automated “web traffic generation” machine, where all you then need to do is post content and your website then does the rest, immediately notifying search engines, social media and other online properties about your site to start bringing you new website visitors …
(With an expertly configured WordPress site, you just post new content and WordPress then does the rest!)
An Automated Content Distribution, Traffic And Lead Generation, And Sales & Marketing System
With an expertly configured WordPress site, you can build more than just a website for your business … you can set up an automated traffic and lead generation and sales & marketing system, where all you do is publish your content and WordPress then automates the rest …
(Set up an automated content distribution, lead and traffic generation, and sales and marketing system with WordPress)
As your business evolves, you can add more functionality and automate processes like:
- Sell products and services with e-commerce,
- Capture leads with opt-in forms and add your subscribers to newsletters and autoresponders,
- Allow visitors to register on your site with different membership levels,
- And so much more!
You can do all of this using inexpensive WordPress plugins. Once these plugins are installed and configured on your site, just direct your visitors to the appropriate sections (e.g. your store, subscription forms, membership area, etc.)
The video below shows you what an expertly configured WordPress site can do for your business …
In Part 2 of The WordPress Web Site Traffic Blueprint overview, we explain the components of your automated website traffic system:
- Setup – Learn the best way to start if you don’t have a web presence yet, or if you already have an existing site that may or may not have been built using WordPress.
- Configure – By default, WordPress already comes with a number of built-in features and settings to help you generate traffic. Learn what features and settings need to be configured for maximum benefit.
- Automate – Your traffic system requires not only internal WordPress settings to be configured but also the integration of your WordPress site with third-party services and other sites (e.g. webmaster, analytics, and social media accounts).
- Publicize – After configuring your WordPress settings and integrating your site with various external sites, all you have to do is publish new content regularly and WordPress will instantly notify and inform search engines, your social media sites and other online properties about the new content, giving your content wider online exposure to more visitors.
- Optimize – We recommend starting with a content marketing strategy to build sustainable traffic. With the right systems in place, you can begin to measure and understand the traffic generated as a result and gather valuable information that will allow you to make smarter decisions when expanding to other traffic generation methods.
